Hey there! 👋🏽 If you’re new here, I am an ambitious15 y/o16 y/o who's interested in Blockchain, gene editing, longevity, and a bunch of emerging tech I'm yet to discover 😉. I'm passionate about digital art, video editing and I love rocking out on the guitar in my free time 🎸
2021 is coming to an end, time flew by SO QUICK! This month was packed with some cool experiences:
The Knowledge Society: Hackathon 👾
A hackathon is almost like a sprint marathon for creating projects - teams of about 5-6 have 8 hours to collaborate and come out with an end product based on the prompt. Here was ours:
Use emerging tech to solve a real-world problem
After much deliberation, my team ended up creating the piezoshoe, a shoe that leverages piezoelectric materials to generate electricity for developing countries.
So grateful to have shared this unique experience with Sahasra Gutta, Ashley Chen, Aastha Shukla, and Ikhlas Patel! While we faced challenges at every corner, we learned a lot about bringing ideas to life. 🌱
Regenerative Medicine Virtual Event 🧫
So grateful for the opportunity to attend a virtual event with guest speakers Gordan Keller, Karen Lee, Cate Murray, and more! This event was all about where stem cells can take us, along with key insights from these amazing researchers!
🔑 Takeaways from Gordan Keller:
Over the past few years, we have discovered processes revolving around human pluripotent stem cells— almost like a blank tile in Scrabble. The main goal is to repair the damaged tissue, not having to do an organ transplant.
Clinical trials are underway for many possible cell therapies including insulin-producing cells to treat diabetes, retinal cells to repair macular degeneration, and cardiac cells to restore cardiac function following a heart attack.
Ethical issues that need to be solved include access + affordability + regulations, but he’s optimistic about the trajectory of these issues.
Blockchain ⛓
This month I’ve been focused on immersing myself in a blockchain bubble. I’m currently looking into:
Web 3.0
DAO’s
Measuring Decentralization with Consenys
Building simple smart contracts with Solidity
Projects: Video editing!
Video editing is something I’ve enjoyed since I was a kid trying to make wacky youtube videos. Although I haven’t gotten to create projects recently, last week I had a blast working alongside my school’s student council to create an introduction inspired by The Office!! (No, I was not Micheal, I was Dwight 🙄 )
After the exponential changes I’ve been going through these last few months, it was refreshing to create, and get immersed into filming and editing— a process I’m passionate about.
Goals for this month
Content creation - finish an in-depth article on decentralization
Reach out to people in the blockchain field and get advice from them!
Brainstorm and start on ideas to start a replicate project on Blockchain
Finish reading Atomic Habits by James clear
