Hey there! 👋🏽 If you’re new here, I am a 16 y/o innovator who's stoked about the future of Blockchain, web3, and crypto, and currently building decentalized applications on the ethereum blockchain. I'm passionate about digital art, video editing and I love rocking out on the guitar in my free time 🎸
February and March highlights:
These past two months have been a huge catalyst for my growth, and I accomplished a lot. However, along with the amazing experiences, it was a huge learning curve keeping up with the growing amount of priorities going on in my life. However, throughout the challenges/events I participated in these two months, I feel as though I was really able to develop stronger relationships with people I care about, which is by far one of the best parts of my experiences these few months.
Here’s a quick summary of the major events these past months:
Got sponsored by PadawanDAO to go to ETHDenver
Pitched a way to mitigate blood wastage utilizing Blockchain for a Focus Hackathon
Pitching to the United Nations
Created a Defi Decentralized application
Released 2 podcast episodes for Technically fulfilled
Family trip to Dubai :)
Getting sponsored to go to ETHDenver ✈️
In February, I’m so grateful to say that I had the opportunity to fly to Denver for ETHDenver— the largest and longest-running blockchain conference in the world! It is an Ethereum conference dedicated to being a hub for all innovations for Ethereum, and for people to collaborate and build.
Having the opportunity to travel independently in itself really taught me the value of having complete control over how I spent my time—it was both overwhelming and exciting.
I spend my time having as many interesting conversations as possible. Through networking, I even got the opportunity to work alongside Heidi Cuppari and Jennifer Capo to submit a grant application for Island 17, a play-to-earn game that utilizes the Harmony protocol to fund players to contribute to Sustainable Development goals.
Aside from the conference, I am grateful to have spent time exploring Denver with super cool individuals, have late-night laughs, and create friendships.
Pitched Bloodway: Mitigating blood wastage in the blood donation supply chain
At the Knowledge society, I participated in a focus Hackathon. In just 12 hours, my team was challenged to come up with a solution to an interesting problem using the area of technology area that we've been building.
Along with Felix Tikkanin, Fazal Mittu, Nathan Park, And Yojith Biradavolu, we created a solution that utilized Blockchain technology to improve the infrastructure of Canada’s blood donation supply chain to mitigate blood wastage. We did this by using Ethereum’s ERC-721 standard to associate each blood batch with a unique digital token, ensuring secure traceability.
Pitching a solution to the air quality crisis in Delhi, India to the United Nations
This is by far one of my favorite projects I’ve ever worked on with a team. Over the course of 4 weeks, I got the amazing opportunity to work alongside the United Nations with a team of 5 to develop a solution to the pressing problem of air pollution. I won’t go too in-depth on the solution until my next newsletter, but here are some of my key takeaways:
The power of speaking to both people within the industry AND your end-user is crazy. The value you can get from 20 minutes with an expert allows you to gain so much intuition about the problem/industry. We also found that by asking for feedback and advice (and applying it) the people we reached out to were rooting for us and our project to succeed :)
Although working with a larger team has more helping hands, it also requires more communication, transparency, and accountability among each other.
Being problem-oriented is crucial—falling in love with the problem allowed us to create a solution that caters to the people impacted by it.
It’s important to get acquainted with current solutions and why they may not be ideal. Getting to the root cause of those issues is what prevents a ‘band-aid’ solution.
Defi Decentralized Application
As an update to my last newsletter, I released an article talking about my Defi D-APP.
I built a decentralized application with a smart contract that allows users to deposit DAI stable coin tokens and earn a unique token as interest. I did this using Ethereum’s programming language; solidity.
I released an article that:
Discussed the implications of Defi apps to get people who lack banks into the global economy. Although Defi is most known for bringing people high yields, it can also be a solution to global banking inequality!
Contains a full walkthrough of the Code for the smart contract that allows the DApp to function
Turtle Token
I coded Turtle Token; an ERC-20 token! A fun side project to develop my skills in smart contract development.
Since ERC-20 tokens abide by the ERC-20 standard, when creating tokens it is a standard practice to use a pre-existing implementation of the ERC-20 standard that has been audited and reviewed many times by experts/community.
However, in this article, I will walk through all the functions that make up an ERC-20 token to really understand the ins and outs of how a token actually works and communicates with the blockchain.
Technically Fulfilled Podcast
Alongside Prisha Bhavsar, Tanvi Donepudi, and Cameron Kroll, I’ve started a podcast! Our initial drive behind this podcast was to simply have deeper conversations with interesting people. Our aim is to discuss mindsets, frameworks, and tech with experts in order to get a better understanding of these topics and how to navigate the constantly changing world.
Here's our Spotify, & Instagram.
Our first episode was an introduction to us. We discussed the reasons we started the podcast and our future plans
Our second episode was an interview with Revi Sterling! We had a really insightful conversation about discomfort failure and women in tech.
Upcoming Goals
Crush the University of Pennsylvania Climate Venture's Prize Competition!
Crush TKS Moonshot (more on that later)
Record 2 more episodes of TECHnichally fulfilled
Find a potential internship opportunity for growth in skills
Finish a DAO project created through Buildspace!
